LONDON 8 BELL BRACKET CLOCK  - circa 1800-1830 -Georgian Period

MAKER: Edward Watson
ORIGIN:   Cheapside St,  London England
-Watson was a  Watchmaker and Turret Clockmaker. He is documented
as maker of longcases 1820 to 1840. He became free of the Clockmakers
                    Company in 1815.

These large clocks were called 'table clocks'or ' library clocks' , many were set on matching pedestals as well.
The 8 bell chimes play the Whittington Chimes on a nest of eight tuned bells.
The eight day mechanism has just been cleaned and runs very well.
This triple fusee movement is of the highest quality and workmanship. The pillars are extremly large.
The hour is struck on a large coiled gong. The brass pendulum has a securing lock or tie down to protect
 the suspension during transportation.
At the side of the case is a keyed lock for the front door and same key is for the back door.

The cream colored painted dial is original with minor touchup. A strike or silent dial in the arch is adjusted manually.
The delicate scalloped hands add to the beauty of this clock.
The case has some mahogany veneer but all the carving is solid mahogany. A very unusual and exciting design.
