A rare German astronomical wall regulator in the original
rosewood vienna-style case.
Case measures 78 inches long and is of eight day running
duration. It is 'Hygens wind'.
The variable compensating pendulum weighs 9 pounds
being driven by a
14 ounce 'wafer weight'. The going train has
only 2 wheels, a large escape wheel
and a great wheel with over 300 teeth. The plates
of the movement are only
5/16 inches apart.
The seconds hand runs counter-clockwise and takes
two minutes per revolution.
A very rare and high quality precision movement.
This fine regulator no doubt was used in a jewelry
store or watchmaking firm.
