FRENCH BIRDSEYE LYRE CLOCK     Circa 1820
 

          An attractive and desirable mantle clock in the form of a musical lyre.
          The birdseye maple wooden case is decorated with elegant gilt ormulu and
          mahogany accents.

          The cresting appears as a peacock with full plume, and floral horns at either side.
          The rectangular base rests on four elborate gilt feet.

The silvered stippled dial centre has a gold gilt bezel and the hands are of the Breguet style.

              The dial signature reads:   " Dijon Leguery a' Paris "


          The eight day movement has 'silk thread suspension', striking the hours and
          half hours on a brass bell.The movement has dead beat escapement and an
          outside countwheel. Movement numbered 764. The long pendulum bob is
          period.
