An elaborate French crystal regulator of exceptional quality. The clock has panels to the front and sides made of onyx and decorated with utmost beauty . The side panels are adorned with mercury gilt bronze mounts from top to bottom and the front dial has superb ornamentation below the dial. Top corners are decorated as well.  The top of the clock is stepped with a band of dentil trim. Frosted bevelled glass in the back door adds to its grandeur.
The 4.25" dial has an 'overlay' of gilt lattice work and the roman numerals are imprinted on the onyx panel.

The circular brass french movement is eight day duration, striking the hours and half hour on a spiral gong. The movement is stamped Japy Freres -Med. de Honuere with a crown.
