8 BELL ENGLISH BRACKET CLOCK  Circa-1870-

A large three train, quarter striking english bracket clock with gilded brass mounts and ornamentation.
The case is ebonized and decorated with gilt 'fermes' each side of the chamfered corners . Rectangular cast side frets
keep unwanted dust from the movement. There are substantial scrolled gilt bracket feet supporting the clock.
The beautiful large handles are decoration only as the bracket clock is very heavy.

The excellent fully engraved and gilt dial has a silvered chapter ring , telling the hours and minutes.
The three subsidiary dials in the arch are: 1-Chime and Silent,  2-Fast and Slow indicator,  3-a choice of 8 Bell chime or Westminster                                          chime.
This dial is surrounded by a silvered 'sight-plate' ( which was used to hide any space between the dial and the movemnt behind.)
