FRENCH CATHEDRAL CLOCK    Circa 1830

MAKER:   F.L. Hausburg
Origin: Paris

An extremely desirable ecclesiastical form of mantle clock. The
cathedral case is bronze with gold fire-gilding and silvering. One
can see the exquisite detail throughout the complete structure. The
pendulum swings to and fro in the cathedral door.

The movement is signed:  " F.L. Hausburg  Paris" and the same
on the dial behind the fretted cathedral window at the top.
It is also silk-thread suspension with eight day running duration.
The clock strikes the half and full hours on a gong, which is housed
in the base of the clock. The base is a very fine piece of workmanship
in itself, being 'rosewood' with the finest of stringing and style.
