Bronze Sienna Marble    circa- Empire Period-1800-1830

A large majestic mantle clock depicting "Urania" the Godess of Astronomy.She poses
thirteen and a half inches in height. With her caliper in one hand she rests beside the marble sienna 'globe of the earth' .

The unusual silvered dial is two piece , with a bronze 'gilt star' in the center.
Original french hands tell the oncoming hours. A bevelled convex glass is held by
a bezel which twists on smoothly and secure.-all original and unique.. There are black
roman numerals on the dial.
xxxxx                  Books of astronomy are resting at her side. The decorative freize in the rectangular  base of the clock represents her telescope. Besides garlands and scrolls, elaborate scrolled feet complete the distinctive quality of this magnificant mantle clock.
.............The french movement has 'silk thread suspension' , outside countwheel and a running duration of 14 days. The pendulum has a wafer brass bob, all is original.
