BRONZE GILT FRENCH CLOCK --LOUIS XV111 period
A large superb french mantle clock, swarthing in beauty.
The rectiliniar 'antico verde'
marble case has many well cast mounts, including a freize
in an oval cameo with Homer and a young child. The gilt base supports a
structural clock with two male winged bronzes with their armour. The bust
of Homer rests majestically on the top garland. The gilding is exceptional
and the bronzes high in quality and detail.


"Homer" (Greek) is the greatest epic poet of all
times. He is the poet of the Greek epics
IIiad and Odyssey. Homer is a historical person
which lived in the second have of the eighth century B.C. The bust of HOMER
(150 BC) is exhibited in the Louvre
Museum in Paris, France.

The eight day movement is signed" Medaille-VINCENTI-1855,also
numbered. It is 'rack and snail' striking.
The dial reads ' Puthon Laine'--Paria.
with quarter minute marks .
The gilt pierced hands are early and fine. A convex
bevelled glass rests in a gilt engine turned bezel which is hinged
and shuts tightly.A frosted glass covers the quality movement at back of
the case.
