clock in lovely original condition.
The case is fine mahogany having
a fine original patina and an outstanding dial.
The arch depicts the escape
of ' Mary Queen of Scots ' and the dial corners have
paintings of the continents.
The hood has well turned
full columns and an unusual carved pediment. Their are
side openings to view the movement. The
hood has a dome-top with carving and a
single finial. The 'bow-fronted'
solid wood trunk door has applied pilasters either
side of the trunk. There are
'cusp shaped pieces' applied to the trunk above and
below the door, appearing to
be part of the door.
The eight day time and strike movement has been cleaned and running well.
The dial indicates the hours,
full minute track and a seconds bit. There is also a
calendar below the center arbor.
The excellent gilt brass hands are matching.

The plinth is inset with a sunken
panel and molded trim. The case has bun feet.
