SCOTTISH  LONGCASE   circa  1850-60

     Maker:  WILLIAM  MARSHALL -Marshall, William-clock and
                     watchmakers,  5 MAIN street, Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

     Origin:    WISHAW,   SCOTLAND

     An elegant country Scottish grandfather clock in lovely original condition.
     The case is fine mahogany having a fine original patina and an outstanding dial.
     The arch depicts the escape of  ' Mary Queen of Scots ' and the dial corners have
      paintings of the continents.


     The hood has well turned full columns and an unusual carved pediment. Their are
     side openings to view the movement.The hood has a dome-top with carving and a
     single finial. The 'bow-fronted' solid wood trunk door has applied pilasters either
     side of the trunk. There are 'cusp shaped pieces' applied to the trunk above and
     below the door, appearing to be part of the door.

     The eight day time and strike movement has been cleaned and running well.

     The dial indicates the hours, full minute track and a seconds bit. There is also a
     calendar below the center arbor. The excellent gilt brass hands are matching.

     The plinth is inset with a sunken panel and molded trim. The case has bun feet.

     A beautiful proportioned Scottish Longcase clock.
