MAHOGANY WELSH LONGCASE  circa 1810

         Origin: MERTHYR , SOUTH EAST WALES

An elegant mahogany and rosewood crossbanded longcase clock with brass ball and spire finials and brass capitals to the hood and trunk. The reeded columns and bracket foot
are relevant to the period of the case. The hood is exceptional with its Bristol- style bonnet top and the scallop edging on the door.

The white painted dial has gold leaf floral spandrels and matching shell arch motif.
There is a date aperature/ seconds bit/ quarter minute outer track.
Of special note are the scarce 'matching set of crown hands'for the hour and seconds bit.

The 8-day movement is cleaned and in fine running order. The cast iron weights which are rare are known as "mae west weights"
